Mademoiselle Perault is a shy and plain looking woman. She has nothing speak for her in her looks, but she has a heart of gold. After Madeleines deformed child is born, Marie Perault shows Madeleine the true meaning of friendship, and she keeps visiting her, where the superstitious villagers now avoid Madeleine, fearing her monstrous child.
